Projects

This page lists some other small projects I've built.  Most, if not all, the projects came from what I considered to be a need for them.  Some of them are very simple, while others were a little more complicated . . . so they run the full range.  Most are made out of scraps or small pieces of alumium sheet and small angle iron or box tube.  Why?  Because the material was cheap and available.  An alphabetical list, and in some cases a small description, is on this page while the actual pictures are on a separate page.  Listing all the pictures here would make the page very large, and a long load.  Also, ignore the dates that are on the pictures.  The camera uses that as the default date because I use an adapter with it instead of batteries, which would hold the date.

APU stand The APU was being used for instructing students but didn't have a safe stand.
Someplace to hold the blueprints for projects while working on them
Can crusher We needed to cut down the bulk of our paint cans going into the waste metal.
We got a new chop saw, but the base flexed badly and it wasn't very mobile.
2nd saw, but lack of space to use it and the base wasn't much better than first saw's.
CPU fan shroud I decided to over clock my cpu but wanted to control the air flow better.
CPU fan shroud #2 The first one worked well, so I made a bigger, dual version.
I needed a tach for my windmill projects, so I bought a kit and made one.
Exhaust pipe stand A stand was required for instruction, storage and transportation.
A couple of the 4 or 5 fence post pounders I've made.
I made a rack to mount the sweeper's heavy recharger, directly on the machine.
Gear stand We needed a practical, and safe MLG stand for training.
Required 2 grinder stands as table top space was at a premium.
We had lots of welding helmets, and needed someplace to store them.
A lack of desk space prompted this folding keyboard tray.
Needed a rack for it, and needed to learn how to MIG weld.
We had a solvent recycler, but no practical means to use the solvent.
Paint supply rack We needed a small rack to organize some of the paint supplies.
Phone rack
I needed a phone rack and a project for a trainee to help with.
Picnic table The last picnic table I'll ever have to build.
Recumbents First attempt at a recumbent trike and subsequent 'bents.
Squeeze riveter table We had a nice big squeeze rivetter, but it was difficult to use with no project support.
TIG welder rack I had nice new TIG welder, but needed a functional and cheap stand.
Transmission stand We had a helicopter tranmission stand, but it was top heavy and falling apart.
Wind turbine First attempt at home made wind turbines.  More attempts will follow :)
